    Description

    We are looking for an Aviation Sales Manager – Central South America to join our team. This individual will be responsible for the sales, marketing, and business development of avionics products in the region. This individual will drive sales and cultivate lasting relationships in the general aviation, business aviation, commercial aviation, aviation services, and the military and government markets.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Directly interface with customers, including dealers, fleet operators, OEM representatives, business partners, governments, and end users by way of visits, product presentations, correspondence, and other means of communication
  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of the avionics industry and Garmin aviation products
  • Builds and presents product presentations demonstrating advanced knowledge of Garmin aviation products and showing a high level of comfort presenting in front of customers, including high-ranking executive/leaders
  • Demonstrates ability to effectively develop persuasive, well-organized, and informative proposals and business case analysis in response to customer proposal requests; execution will be completed with minimal oversight and support from management or the team
  • Work with the internal global team to drive customer contract negotiations effectively across cross-functional teams with minimal oversight and guidance
  • Develop, review and revise regional and OEM-specific forecasts and be accountable for those sales commitments to the business
  • Pursue and develop opportunities in a variety of aviation market segments expanding Garmin’s global reach within the region
  • Develop and maintain a short term and long-term regional sales strategy for increasing market share in each market including the general aviation, business aviation, commercial aviation, military & government, and services segments.
  • Demonstrates the ability to build strong working relationships with key points-of-contact and key management representatives at each of your customers as the primary commercial representative for Garmin
  • Assist in collecting, compiling, and presenting competitive intelligence internally
  • Demonstrates ability to proactively provide timely, detailed and actionable trip notes after customer visits with a good level of detail; submits weekly reports with the appropriate detail and on time
  • Survey product markets to determine product potential or needs for new products and assist in the implementation of new product offerings in the assigned region
  • Plan, organize and attend industry trade shows and events; and represent Garmin in a professional manner during all interactions with customers, media, and government/regulatory officials
  • Coordinate efforts of Marketing, Product Support, and Engineering departments to solve customer problems and be a strong internal voice of the customer
  • Assist in modifying marketing strategies, sales displays, brochures, rebates, promotions, and unique product requirements for assigned region
  • Provide diligent follow-up to customers and internal requirements, regardless of travels
  • OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform other related duties required to complete the tasks assigned
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures
  • Works effectively and professionally with other team members, learns from and shares knowledge with others by documenting and contributing to knowledge base
  • Extensive travel is expected, with occasional travel outside the region and internationally to support global initiatives as required
  • Work, Health & Safety (WHS): 

  • Take all reasonable steps to ensure personal safety and that of others is not put at risk through any act or omission
  • Report any identified hazards, incidents including near misses or injuries which arise in the course of work, using the systems and/or documentation available for such reporting
  • Qualifications

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university, or more than 5 years of demonstrated and applicable experience, preferably in the aviation industry 
  • Must possess a minimum of 3 years sales experience, performing a role substantially similar to the essential functions of this role
  • Demonstrated knowledge of marketing principals, theories and concepts and technical principals of avionics systems
  • Must possess a demonstrated commitment and passion for achieving customer satisfaction
  • Must be an articulate and fluent written and verbal communicator, and at ease with public speaking
  • Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to work proactively and effectively with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task in a flexible, fast paced and challenging environment
  • Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others
  • Driven problem solver with a proven track record in achieving goals
  • Excellent time management and follow-up skills
  • Superior organizational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail and quality
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office software, particularly Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
  • DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Sales experience in the aviation industry, preferably with avionic systems
  • Demonstrates operational knowledge of Garmin products
  • Demonstrates a general understanding of the avionics competitive landscape, products and systems
  • Private Pilot’s license 
  • Instrument Flight Rating and More than 500 hours PIC
  • Multi-Engine Rating and/or Certified Flight Instructor Rating
  • Turbine aircraft knowledge or experience
  • International language skills
